7 ways to make your rental feel like home
How to make your rental feel like home?
Before you start, we advise you review your contract to see what is allowed. If anything isn't clear, it is best to ask your landlord’s permission.
1. Plants and flowers
Plants and flowers are an easy way of adding colour to any living space. Greenery will make the property look good, as well as help clean the air and remove toxins. While plants are a familiar addition to living areas, don’t stick to these rooms. Many small plants do well in a humid room and make a perfect feature in bathrooms. Why not be adventurous and add colours and texture with different types of pots and planters.2. Textiles
Textiles must be the simplest, quickest way to make a space yours. Make use of cushions and chunky throws on sofas and armchairs. Why not cover a chair with a sheepskin rug or find a funky upholstered stool. We also recommend using bedspreads and matching cushions on your bedding. Colourful, textured towels in an all-white bathroom will make your bathroom stand out. When it comes to textiles, the possibilities are endless!
3. Artwork
Artwork makes a home interesting. Are you worried about hanging framed photos on the wall? You can place them on an end table or nightstand, or even prop an oversized work on the floor in your living room.
4. Lighting
Any room will look flat under insufficient lighting. Be adventurous and add floor lamps, table lamps, or even candles. Introduce mirrors to bring out the best of the natural light reflecting around the room.
5. Accessories
All the small details together will make your rental express your personality and style. Use different types of accessories to make a room look great, such as books, ornaments, and mirrors. Soft furnishings also makes the room feel cosier. Decorate the room with rugs, cushions and blankets!
6. Creative storage
Rented homes often lack storage, which in turn can cause visual clutter. Add furniture such as sideboards and chest of drawers that help with storage. These pieces of furniture can also make a statement. Be creative!7. Painting
A lick of fresh paint makes a huge difference in any room. If your landlord isn’t keen on a complete redecoration you can just paint a small bathroom, hallway, or single wall which will be easy to repaint when you are ready to move out. Alternatively, you can breathe new life into your space by painting your furniture, everything from a chair to a chest of drawers.
